Official broadcast right holders of the Ghana Premier League (GPL), StarTimes has  called on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to make "strict rules" that will ensure punishment for clubs that prevents live telecast of matches.

The Ghana Football Association will go to congress next year and the broadcaster believes the deliberate  obstruction of its work at some League Centers  must be addressed.

StarTimes,in the just ended season, could not telecast matches live from the Dormaa and Bechem parks when supporters of the home teams deliberately denied them access to the facilities.

The arrangement had been agreed and communicated, but adamant supporters objected to it with threats few hours to those matches, forcing StarTimes  crew to seek refuge at police stations.

With the arrival of the StarTimes outside broadcasting (OB) vans for next season’s competitions, the digital terrestrial channel is calling on the FA to curb this problem before the start of the new season.

“We have complained to the FA to find a way of putting in place strict rules so that in the future these things cannot be repeated," the Public Relations Officer for StarTimes Ghana, Eli Kondoh told Finder Sports.
“So we are hoping when they go to Congress, these issues will be addressed and then better measures are put in place so it doesn’t reoccur.

He also mentioned that beginning next season all the more matches that will be broadcast in High Definition (HD) with matches been televised on Saturdays and Sundays.
"The coverage of matches may increase from two to three matches every week."

The Outside Broadcasting (OB) Van which arrived last month is yet to be cleared from the Tema Port and reports suggests it might be used for the upcoming GHALCA G8 tournament in January 2018.

Africa’s leading pay-TV operator StarTimes Group signed a $17,950,000 media agreement last year with Ghana Football Association, acquiring all media rights of the Ghana Premier League, the Gala, the National Division One League, the MTN FA Cup, the Ghana Women’s League and the Ghana Juvenile League for the next 10 years.
